And so the story begins…

How I got to this weird place to begin blogging in 2020 is not important at the moment and will surely be addressed ad nauseum in future posts, but here I am: a 45-year-old man alone in a hotel room with tons of video and computer equipment. Later today, I will be performing for the first time ever on a stage and I need to make sure the video equipment we are using to capture the show is ready to go (since our old pal Covid prevents us from having a live audience.)

It just occurred to me: anyone who saw me bringing in all this gear must think I’m a pornographer… (note to self: consider changing career path to pornographer if this stage stuff doesn’t work out since hotel staff doesn’t seem to notice or complain about you carrying large quantities of video gear in and out)

That was the first line that Winston wrote in his journal. So I have stolen borrowed the line for the first entry in this journal.

To the cynical folks in the audience tonight, I am well aware that in 2012, blogs and online journals are anything but a new concept. I must apologize, because at the end of the day, this site isn’t for you, it’s for me. It is my sincere hope that by publishing some of my inner monologues here, it will force me to focus my mind on those thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams and the act of sorting through them and communicating them to the web will also empower those thoughts to communicate more clearly with me. I hope that is what happens. The last thing the internet needs is more digital babble.
